Cell Phone Travel Hacks To Save You Money

In this mobile world, we are never without our smartphones. These cell phone travel hacks will help keep your battery charged, save you some money, and even make your adventures easier.

Be Your Own Hero

Those charging stations at airports are always packed. You can spend a small amount on your own portable charging station or go to your local dollar store and pick up a 3 outlet extender. When you show up to an already packed charging station and offer and extra outlet in addiction to providing your own, people will be far more likely to share the limited space. You’ll be a hero to yourself and perhaps another passenger in need.

Data Savers

Many apps have travel modes. For example, Snapchat has an options under the cog settings button on your home page. Tap the cog and then tap “Manage” or “Manage Preferences” under the settings menu. From there, you can enable the travel mode that will save you from eating up data. Android seems to have more options when it comes to saving data via web browsers. In your Chrome on your Android, tap the menu button which is the three dots in the top right, then tap the settings button, and finally data saver. Same goes for Firefox. Tap the menu button which is the three horizontal lines) at the bottom of the screen, then tap settings, and then advanced.

Airplane Mode

If you want to stop those annoying adds during games you’ve downloaded on your phone, turn on your device’s airplane mode. You’ll be able to play ad-free without paying extra. Uninterrupted Word Cookies? Yes, please!

Go Offline

Public Wi-Fi can be a risk, but you might feel you need to connect to get from Point A to Point B. Luckily, there are options to use some apps like Google Maps without using data or Wi-Fi. Under Google Maps you can chose an offline option that will download your route in advance. You won’t get traffic updates, but you’ll know how to get there.

Download Instead of Data

Netflix allows users to download some content in advance. So, instead of streaming and gobbling data, you have the option to download some movies and shows by tapping the download icons next to individual titles. Spotify also has this option for its “premium users.” Music fans might want to consider upgrading for the trip, which might be cheaper than possible data overages.
