5 Fun Spring Break Activities For You And Your Kids

It’s almost that time of year again. Yep, Spring Break is just around the corner. For us mommies, that means that we’ve got a whole load of planning to do. Keeping the little ones busy when they’re at home can be troublesome. Kids seem to have just so much energy that it really is hard to know where to start. Luckily, I’ve got some rather brilliant advice for you guys! If you’re not sure where to begin, take a quick look at my ideas here. I promise that you won’t be disappointed.

1. Plan a picnic in the park

Okay, I know that spring is not the warmest time of the year, but you might be lucky. Honestly, I think that kids don’t get out enough these days. They always seem to be inside, glued to the TV. That’s not what I want for my little ones! Planning a family picnic is an excellent way to make sure that you get some quality time together, while also getting outside.

The night before you plan to head out, you should make some healthy snacks and treats for your children. Pack them away in a cooler bag and you’re all set! Your kids will love the fact that you’re doing something special with them and you should have a fantastic day.

2. Create a fun scavenger hunt

This one takes a little extra planning, but I swear that it will be worth it. If your children are between eight and 12, they should adore this game. You can create a scavenger hunt at home for them simply by writing simple riddles on pieces of scrap paper. Each clue should lead to the next with a prize at the end. Place the riddles around your home and set your little ones off! This one should keep them busy for hours.

3. Bake some fresh cookies together

If you’re anything like me, you’ll be a super keen baker. I want my kids to grow up with at least some cookery skills as well. That’s why, the minute they are old enough, I’m going to make sure that I bake with them. If your kids are seven or older, they should be able to help you out in the kitchen. Choose an easy (and fun!) recipe online and get started.

4. Break out the board games

If the rain starts to pour, there’s only one thing for it! Board games make for excellent afternoon activities and your kids will love them. Of course, the classic game will always be Monopoly, but there’s a whole host of others out there. Make sure that you look online and find games that are age-appropriate for your kids.

5. Paint the bathtub (no, really…)

Finally, here’s an activity that’s perfect for toddlers! As you likely know, young kids LOVE to draw and paint on things. Why not create a place where they can really go wild? Add some food coloring to some shaving foam and let your kids ‘paint’ the bathtub! When they are done, you can simply wash the foam off and start again. Easy peasy!
