Finding out I was pregnant with my second child was exciting. I did the typical mom thing and began to purchase any and everything baby-related. While I wasn’t a new mom, it was still exciting and I figured there were few more things I could still learn.
Saying it was a surprise to find out I was having not one – but two babies is a bit of an understatement.
Everything changes when you find out you are having multiples!
Once the disbelief and shock sets in that you are cooking more than one bun, you are ready to learn everything possible about this new reality.

Cue, the book search.
For first-time moms, the traditional, old standbys that cover all the aspects of pregnancy and delivery are a must; however, with a twin pregnancy, there are quite a few more things to keep up with.
This can help you remember everything as you slowly begin to lose your mind to the pregnancy. While you can just purchase a blank journal, do you even know what to record or to remember? The “What to Expect: Pregnancy Journal & Organizer” is a great option. It includes all types of sections to document doctor appointments, ultrasounds, and just to write down all the special pregnancy moments.
Now, back to the twins stuff. There are quite a few twin-specific books I read while pregnant with Ella and Rose, but my favorite (and the one I found most helpful) was “What to Do When You’re Having Two: Twins Survival Guide from Pregnancy Through the First Year,” written by Natalie Diaz.
The book provides a great overview of the whole twin pregnancy. You will find the knowledge needed for pregnancy and birth and how to prepare everything.
Are you planning on breastfeeding? If so, a must-have is “Mothering Multiples: Breastfeeding and Caring for Twins or More! (La Leche League International Book.” To put it plainly this is basically the breastfeeding bible for moms with multiples.
The fact is, there are countless books about twins out there; however, sometimes you have to wade through all the noise to find the books that are really helpful. These are my favorites and my twin girls are thriving today. They really helped me along the way!
