I started camping when I was a little girl. My dad is a man’s man and loves everything to do with the outdoors. He is an expert fisher and seeks out the best lakes to enjoy his favourite pastime. Needless to say, at times he had a hard time finding ways to connect with his princess loving daughter. Camping was a great way for us to do some father-daughter bonding. One of my fondest memories is my dad teaching me to fish with my little pink rod while I excitedly tried to catch little sunny fish. Little did I know at the time how special this time together was to my dad. A time where it was just him and his little girl!

My 3-year-old daughter, Ava, also loves nature vacations. The first time we took her camping was when she had just turned 2-year-old. I have so many incredible memories from that vacation! At the time, her favorite animal was a duck, so she had a ball seeing mama ducks with their babies. We feed them a lot and soon realized that was a mistake! We had ducks coming every couple of hours to feed and ducks that stick around like to poop! It’s a funny memory to laugh about now, but we definitely learned our lesson!
