Tis’ the season for Peanuts!
Peanuts instantly come to mind when I think of holiday classics! Appealing to every generation with their simple everyday wisdom and wit the Peanuts gang includes enduring icons like Snoopy and Charlie Brown.
Growing up I was always excited to watch the Peanuts holiday specials on TV each year. I can’t tell you how many times I have watched A Charlie Brown Christmas! Probably the most loved Peanuts special, Charlie Brown teaches children and adults alike the true meaning of Christmas.
Here is a list of my favorite Peanuts holiday presents this year:
A Charlie Brown Christmas: The Making of a Tradition
A tribute to the beloved television classic, Charles M. Schulz‘s A Charlie Brown Christmas: The Making of a Tradition takes readers behind-the-scenes of the Peanuts holiday special that has aired each year since December 1965. It includes the script of the Emmy Award–winning A Charlie Brown Christmas, more than two hundred full-color pieces of original animation art, Vince Guaraldi‘s original score and publication notes for the songs Christmas Time Is Here and Linus and Lucy. The book also takes a look at the making of the feature from producer Lee Mendelson and original animator, the late Bill Melendez.
Retails for $14.48.
Charlie Brown Christmas [Snoopy Doghouse Edition]
One of the reasons why A Charlie Brown Christmas is so loved is because of the music featured on the special. To this day I still get a fuzzy feeling inside when I hear the music composed by the Vince Guaraldi Trio. One of my favorite songs has to be O Tannenbaum. This soundtrack is the perfect album to play on Christmas Eve or Day.
Along with Guaraldi’s classic original album this reissue contains three bonus tracks (Greensleeves, Great Pumpkin Waltz, and Thanksgiving Theme) and a 20-page booklet filled with iconic images from the program and in-depth liner notes by Guaraldi historian Derrick Bang, author of Vince Guaraldi at the Piano.
The Snoopy Doghouse Edition is housed in a customized sleeve that folds out to form a replica of Snoopy’s colorfully decorated doghouse and comes with cut-out replicas of the Peanuts gang Linus, Lucy, Snoopy, and Charlie Brown with stands for each figure.
The CD retails $10.00.
Color & Play Peanuts House
Bring the Peanuts Gang to life with this Color & Play House. Standing over 5 feet tall and made of 100% cardboard the house is perfect for all ages. My two-year-old daughter loves having her own little house within our house. She has a ball running in and opening the window while saying, “Hello, Mommy!”. Older children can have fun personalizing the outside in any way they wish. From coloring to painting the possibilities are boundless.
