Life According To Me, With A Four-Month-Old Baby

Robyn and Ava Ava is a little over 4½-months-old and I feel like life just keeps getting better!  Last month, I was definitely right when I wrote that I will probably think every month is the best.  I keep saying she is not my little baby anymore and my hubby laughs. I feel like she is growing up so fast!

I started to feed Ava solids this month under my doctor’s advice. She has a little bit of rice cereal for breakfast and supper each day.  Be prepared to have the food everywhere when you first feed your child! It was to funny seeing her face full of food! We were sure to get lots of pictures :) At first, she was a little unsure of what to do, but soon realized the bigger she opens her mouth the more food she gets!  The trick to starting solids is to make sure you time the feeding at the right time.  S/he needs to be in a good mood and in a comfortable position.  If the baby is full you obviously don’t want to force food on him/her and if the baby is too hungry s/he will get frustrated much easier when eating solids.

I still breastfeed, but I am slowly starting to wean.  Mainly because my supply has really decreased and is not satisfying her as much.  I think she is ready and I am finally ready to give it up.  I feel the only reason she likes breastfeeding still is for the comfort.  She would much rather have the bottle and feed faster.

My daughter loves books. Last week, I wrote a post about reading to your baby and I cannot stress how important I feel it is to start early.  She loves it.  I introduced fabric books to her when she was just starting to grab at objects. It was the easiest thing for her to grab and she enjoyed the crinkly sound they made.   At the moment, I read board books to her and she enjoys trying to touch and turn each page.

I’m super excited about the upcoming holidays. Christmas was always a favorite time of year for me as a child, so I want it to be the same for her.  We have a real tree this year and the house is fully decorated.

Happy Early Holidays,

xoxo

How A Stay-At-Home Mom and Professional Blogger Saves Time

Ava Computer

Free time basically went out the window after having my four-month-old daughter, Ava. Not only am I  a stay-at-home mom, but a professional blogger. I love my daughter, but I also have to have time do work.   Balancing being a stay-at-home mom and blogger was not easy, but I succeeded!

As much as I complain about breastfeeding, it was an absolute life saver. Yes, breastfeeding does require a lot of time, but it can also save time if you are mom that works from home.  When Ava was born the first thing she wanted to do when waking in the morning was eat which conflicted with my work schedule.  Just like a newspaper a blogger has to get her stories out first thing in the morning.   Breastfeeding allowed me to feed my daughter while doing my job.  I didn’t have to waste time cleaning bottles, preparing formula and then actually feeding my daughter the bottle. I was also able to enjoy the special bond of closeness while working.  What could be better?

A good phone can also help a stay-at-home working mom save time. As a mother, I cannot always be by my computer to check my email. I have to take care of my daughter, make dinner and keep the house clean. A good phone allows me to do my everyday duties and keep up-to-date with my blogging business.

Life According To Me, With a 3 Month Old Baby

Winnie The Pooh Last week, Ava turned three-months-old!  Time certainly does fly! I was looking at pictures of her at birth and she doesn’t even look like the same baby! It’s incredible how fast babies progress and change. I’d like to say the third month is the best, but I’ll probably say that every month ;)

For a first time parent three months is super exciting because a baby starts to do so much more.  Ava can focus much better and her eye coordination has improved. Her grasping ability has also improved.  Ava has went from looking at toys curiously to wanting to grab and touch them. I love watching her investigate a new toy for the first time.  First, she sticks one of her little fingers out  to touch it and then grabs at the toy if she is interested.  For some reason my daughter loves Winnie The Pooh. I think it has something to do with the bright orange color. She loves her Winnie the Pooh Stuffed animal and a cute Winnie the Pooh scrunchy book that she loves grabbing.

Around this time a baby also starts to use his/her voice much more. New sounds like coo and even goo become popular. Oddly enough, Ava loves to make these sounds on her changing table! I guess she like getting her diaper changed ;)   Sometimes, I feel like she is going burst out talking. I try to mimic her baby talk because it gets her excited and she tries to make more sounds.

When it comes to Celeb Baby Laundry everything is going amazing. I truly feel blessed that I can stay at home with my daughter everyday.  I realize how difficult it is for working moms to leave their children everyday.  I hope all our readers are enjoying the blog posts of our new writer Pamela. She has two children, Jacob and Aubree. Aubree is actually the same age as Ava. Check out so some of her posts in the advice section.

Life According To Me, With a 2 Month Old Baby

Life According to me, With a two month old

Time really does fly by! Ava turned two months old last week.  At birth she weighed 5 pounds 13 ounces and now she is 9 pounds 4 ounces. I love that she is bigger because it was a real challenge to find clothes that would fit her in beginning. I am actually planning to do a post about buying clothing for small babies. So stay tuned!

So, what’s life like with a 2-month-old? Well, for me it is great. It is such a luxury to wake up everyday and be with my daughter. Plus, I have the most amazing baby.  I guess every mother believes that ;) She sleeps through the night and will even sleeps in late if I do not get up.  What’s my trick? I co-sleep with my baby.

Two-months is a great time because her personality is showing more and more.  She is becoming more of a little person :) As a first time mom, it is very exciting.  She is able to laugh and enjoys being played with.  I try to help her development along by sitting down with her each night to dangle objects in front of her and make different sounds.  Her smile has really gotten bigger since I started doing this and she is even trying to laugh.  I suggest buying a toy that makes sound as it grabs a babies attention immediately.

I am still breastfeeding. I’m having a hard time deciding when to switch over to formula.  Some days I love breastfeeding and other days I hate it.  I love the bonding part of breastfeeding, but dislike the demanding part :) I guess I will know when it’s time when it feels right in my mind / heart.

Robyn

Life According to Me, NOT PREGNANT!

Property of celebbabylaundry.comYes, I gave birth!

On July 10,  I went for a picnic with my husband.  We had a nice lunch and I munched on pineapple trying to induce myself ;)   I was really tired, so we took a nap. Once, I woke up I decided to read a book for a while. I got up, so I could get comfortable. When I stood up my water broke and it started gushing down my leg. I was so freaked out and started saying, “Ohmigod, I THINK MY WATER BROKE!”. My husband’s mouth fell open and everyone started staring at me like I was a freak! I was so in shock I couldn’t help, but be a little loud :)   I was only 37 weeks and 2 days, so I kept thinking that I had peed myself!  My husband was laughing at me thinking I was crazy. I soon realized after the water kept coming and coming that it was not pee!  I drove home with our picnic blanket under me!

When we got home my husband called the hospital and they said I should come in.  We got to the hospital at 5:30 pm. I was a little worried because I wasn’t having contractions. I only started to have contractions at the hospital and they were not regular.  The doctor checked me and I was 4cm dilated. I opted for an epidural.  The epidural was not fun. It took two anesthesiologists over 45 mins to get it in properly. Apparently, I have a boney back. My husband said it looked unbelievably painful because they kept pricking me etc.

After, the epidural my contractions stopped and I wasn’t progressing. To make matters worse the monitor would not pick up any contractions, so the nurses and staff had to rely on me to tell them how fast they were etc.  The doctor decided to give me meds to speed up the progress.  To make a long story short around 5:30am the doctor checked me and I was fully dilated.  She decided to wait till the baby moved down the canal some more, so I wouldn’t have to push like crazy.  It didn’t really make a difference because when things got started I still had to push forever. I really felt like I wasn’t going to able to do it at one point.  The doctor had to help the baby come out because her heart rate was slowing down.

At 6:42 am on July 11, Ava was born! She is the most precious thing I have ever seen. I look at her now and think how did I ever survive without out her? Words cannot express how much I love her.

We left exactly one week ago. Since, leaving I’ve been busying looking after Ava. Blogging has been hard!  Thankfully, I have a huge support group and my fellow bloggers helped out.  I am starting back now and hopefully things return to normal.

I would like to thank everyone for their kind wishes!

Life According to Me, At 37 Weeks Pregnant

My Baby Shower Cake
My Baby Shower Cake!

I am officially considered full term!  Wohooo! My little baby can pop out any time now and she would be fine!  Many women try to bring on labor through natural induction methods at this point. I think I will try some things, but I think the baby will come when she is ready.  I don’t know if I really buy into all the ‘myths’.

Saturday, my wonderful family through me a baby shower. I was so surprised! They made me think that we were only celebrating my grandmother’s birthday, but it ended up being a joint celebration. I received so many nice things. My little girl really is spoiled!

I’m super tired of being pregnant. I know I feel like I say that every week!

It’s hard to get around and people annoy me!  My pregnant mama attitude comes out very fast.  I’m also sick and tired of people staring at me.  My husband laughs at how obvious people are.  I already feel like an elephant! UGH!

Tomorrow, I have a doctor’s appointment.  If any big news comes out of the meeting I will update my Celeb Baby Laundry readers.

Thanks for all the support,

xoxo,

Robyn

Life According to Me, At 36 Weeks Pregnant

Life According to Me, at 36 Weeks PregnantToday, I’m 36 weeks pregnant. I only have one more week till I am considered full term.  That feels really good to hear!

I have up and down days. I barely sleep anymore, so I’m usually tired. My baby has moved into my pelvic area in preparation of birth. This has changed how I feel. The pressure above my rib cage subdued and I can actually get up the stairs without huffing and puffing.  However, the pain transferred down below! Yesterday, I literally felt like she was going to fall out the pressure was so bad. It was extremely uncomfortable when I stood. Needless to say I sat a lot :)   I also get Braxton hicks contraction when I sit up and go to the washroom sometimes. How pleasant!

This is right about the time pregnant women start to think of the day they will give birth. Usually, they think of the closest day possible! My husband and I have given it some thought and we both have our predictions. I want to give birth on July 15.  This date has been in my mind for the longest time.  Mother’s intuition? My husband thinks July 19. He is hoping for a little longer :) We will see who is right!

Well, that’s it for this week.

xoxo
