Legal battles continue for Linda Evangelista and her son’s father

Legal battles continue for Linda Evangelista and her son's father 0505The four-day trial is underway to determine how much childcare support Linda Evangelista will be awarded from ex-boyfriend, and current husband to Salma HayekFrancois-Henri Pinault. And many secrets are coming out of the closet.

On the stand, Evangelista divulged that Pinault asked her to have an abortion after finding out she was pregnant. Evangelista and Pinault had a four month relationship in 2006 but he confessed on the stand that he broked it off with the supermodel soon after learning she was pregnant. Pinault started dating Hayek soon after, and the couple have a four-year-old daughter, Valentina.

Evangelista decided to keep the baby but it took time for Pinault to claim Augustin as his son. Pinault admits he and Hayek were told their baby had Down’s syndrome for most of the beginning of her pregnancy and he asked Evangelista to delay the legal recognition process of Augustin until after the birth. Valentina does not have the disorder.

Evangelista is asking for $46,000 in child support a month for her five-year-old son. If awarded, the payout will shatter previous childcare records. Evangelista told the judge she spends $46,000 a month for their son’s around-the-clock nanny and armed drivers, and wants Pinault to cover the costs.

Pinault is heir to a family estate estimated at $11.5 billion. As chief executive of PPR, the conglomerate that owns Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci and Bottega Veneta, he earns $5 million a year. Yet he is still balking at Evangelista’s demands calling the high child support, “mom-support”.  ”Most of the expenses do not relate to Augie but they relate to Ms. Evangelista,” Pinault’s lawyer, David Aronson, said in opening statements on Thursday. “It is the classic case of someone trying to bootstrap herself to something that is alimony.”

Evangelista is estimated to be worth $8 million but says she is not as in demand as she used to be. She just wants her son to have the same financial support that Pinault’s daughter with Hayek has. The New York Post reported Pinault spends $50,000 a month just on the taxes, upkeep and loan payments for the $12 million Los Angeles home he’s put in a trust for Valentina.

This is a sad situation. Do you think Linda Evangelista is entitled to the money or is $46,000 too much per month?

Casey Anthony Has A Video Diary

Acquitted infanticidal mother Casey Anthony is in the news again. This time, she’s advertising her new personal video diary in an attempt to prolong her 15 minutes – now turned into way too long- of infamy.

Anthony talks about her current life – at the time of the video, this was still October 2011 – and the issues and changes she’s had to go through:

“It’s just a little surreal how much things have changed since July,” she starts, “and how many things haven’t changed.”

She mentions that things are finally starting to look up for her, and that they can only get better. She finally goes on about how much she hates looking at the camera all the while squeezing a few extra seconds of air time before finally ending the video.

Anthony was acquitted of the murder of her 2 year old daughter Caylee last July based on inconclusive evidence on the matter of death of the little girl. The prosecution had sought the death penalty for Casey, but because no evidence could have been provided on the matter of death of the baby, Anthony was acquitted of the more serious charges and even found herself completely free based on time already served. Casey Anthony never testified during the trial.

Missing Baby Lisa’s Mom Debbie Bradley: ‘We Have Absolutely Nothing to Hide’

Missing Baby Lisa's Mom: 'We Have Absolutely Nothing to Hide'The feature story is all about Deborah Bradley and her fiancé Bill Irwin and their missing daughter, Lisa.  When Bill got home from work he found his 10 month old daughter missing and Deborah who was drunk at the time claims she does not know what happened to Lisa.  Since Lisa’s disappearance investigators have tried to find out what happened to the little girl.

People Magazine has more “The spotlight has fallen on Irwin, 29, and Bradley, 25, who says she volunteered to take a lie detector test but that when she took it she was “terrified and nervous and worried about my daughter. They told me I failed.  We have absolutely nothing to hide,” says Bradley. “Let them search all they want, but do not take the focus off finding my daughter.”

If you have been following this story it is horrible.  Lisa’s mother Deborah did not initially admit she was drinking.  However, when she was caught on video earlier in the day she came clean and admitted she drank five glasses of wine and may have passed out.  What kind of mother does! She also failed a polygraph test!   This story seems so much like the Casey Anthony story.  I hope this time the ending is better and they find poor Lisa.  What are your thoughts?  Have you been covering the story?  Sound out in the comments below!

The Jury Has Reached A Verdict In Amanda Knox Trial

The Jury Has Reached A Verdict In Amanda Knox TrialThe jury has reached verdict in Amanda Knox appeal.   As a stunned Amanda collapsed in tears she was acquitted of all the charges.  Amanda will be released and she will be heading home.  All that is left is for Amanda to be processed and then she can head home.  She could be released in as little as hours!

Earlier today a tearful Amanda Knox made a dramatic 10-minute final plea for her freedom to the judge and jury in the court in Perugia.

Amanda,24, speaking in Italian, said: ‘I am the same person I was four years ago, the same person, the only thing that distinguishes me from four years ago is the four years that I have suffered.

‘In four years I have lost a friend in a brutal and unexplained way. My faith in the police has been betrayed.  ‘I have had to face accusations, injustice and suggestions without foundation and I am paying with my life for something that I did not do.

‘I am not what they say I am. I am not perverse, violent, disrespectful towards life, people, these things do not apply to me and I have not done the things that have been suggested.  ‘I did not kill, I did not rape, I did not steal. I was not there. I was not present at this crime.

‘I had never faced such tragedy, suffering, I didn’t know how to tackle it, how to interpret it.  ‘A person who I was sharing my life with, who had the bedroom next to me, she was killed in our house and if I was there that night I could have been killed.

‘Meredith was killed and I have always wanted justice for her. I am not fleeing from the truth and have never fled. I insist on the truth. I insist after four desperate years for our innocence because it is true. It deserves to be recognised.

‘I want to go home. I want to return to my life, I don’t want to be punished and deprived of my life, future for something I have not done because I am innocent, Raffaele is also innocent.

‘We deserve our freedom. We have never done anything not to deserve it.’

Florida Taxpayers To Pay Casey Anthony’s Legal Fees

Casey AnthonyFlorida taxpayers will continue paying the fee’s for Casey Anthony’s prosecution.

Taxpayers began picking up her legal expenses in March 2010 after she ran out of money and was declared indigent by the courts. The state has already reimbursed her defense lawyers for $119,000 in expenses, according to the Justice Administrative Commission. Another $5,800 bill from the defense is pending, records show.

Prosecutors have not finalized their overall expenses but have identified at least $91,000 in costs, State Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Danielle Tavernier said. Still being calculated are the costs of the massive, three-year police investigation that began in July 2008.

Casey Anthony was convicted of misdemeanor charges of lying to detectives during the investigation and sentenced to the maximum four years in jail. Anthony has indicated she will appeal her convictions and is requesting that the state continue to fund her defense.

An August 25 hearing is scheduled for Judge Belvin Perry to decide what portion of the trial and investigative costs Anthony should bear. After that, the question will be whether she is able to pay up.

Networks Fight Over Interview with Casey Anthony

Networks Fight Over Interview with Casey Anthony

Casey Anthony’s lawyers are working to get a deal for her first interview since her trial. Sources state that NBC is in the lead to capture the first interview since Anthony was found not guilty for murdering her daughter Caylee.

Jose Baez, Casey’s lawyer, went to New York this week to talk with network representatives about the possible debut interview, which could be set to air in the next six-to-nine months, this reported by the New York Post. It is still unknown whether Casey will be paid, which could cause an outrage from the public and could be very bad for the network who hires Anthony.

It is reported that NBC paid for Baez’s trip to New York. Winning the interview could be big for NBC because it is sure to draw a large crowd of viewers. The NBC anchors favored to interview Casey are Matt LauerBrian Williams and Ann Curry.

For those that don’t want to wait so long to see new footage of Anthony, they may be in luck. The unseen video of Casey doubled over and hyperventilating when she received news that Caylee’s body had been found may be released. Networks are now fighting to get a hand on it. The video was banned from the trial because it was deemed by the judge as “highly inflammatory.”

So will you tune in to watch Casey’s first interview?
