CRAFTING: Planning a Superhero Party

I know he’s only six months but I’m getting a head start on planning his first birthday party. The first six months have flown by that I want to be sure I have enough time to plan an amazing party for our baby. I want to keep the party simple but have fun things for adults and kids to enjoy.

My husband and I were talking and we were still not sure on the theme but superheroes are definitely top on the list. The other ideas include Star Wars and dinosaurs. Pinterest is such an amazing place to get great ideas! I am inspired every time I log on. I typed in “superhero” and pages of cakes, crafts, cookies, cake pops and capes popped up! Family Adventure: Taking Our Baby To The Pool

We took Baby C to the pool for the first time this weekend and he had a blast! We were a little worried that he might not like the water too much since it is colder than the bath water but he LOVED it. He had so much fun in his floater and loved splashing.

It was a pretty hot weekend in the high 80s/low 90s so we were sure to follow all the sun safety tips from the Skin Cancer Foundation. We applied all over his body at least 30 minutes before we headed to the pool. We love California Baby for our whole family because it is a non-chemical sunscreen with UVA-UVB protection. It was our first time applying sunscreen on him and the California Baby sunscreen needs to be rubbed in pretty well or it leaves white residue. I rubbed it in pretty well and was worried when he started rubbing his eyes. Luckily, it’s tear-free which is why we love it so much for our whole family! Read the rest of this entry »

Mom Dilemma: Making Time for Non-Mommy Friends

Ever since Baby C was born, I’ve met a lot of amazing moms and dads. I love chatting about our baby experiences, parenting techniques, our love for babywearing, breastfeeding struggles and successes. It’s definitely great to be able to connect with other parents but it made me think…what about my non-mommy and non-daddy friends? Do my friends without kids care about teething, late night feedings, fussiness, being the 75% percentile for height, when they started solids, when they started sitting on their own or crawling??? The answer is most likely not.

Spa Day: Mommy Gets a Day Off

Daddy spent the day at the zoo with baby while mommy got pampered at the Ritz Carlton, Los Angeles spa. Can I just start off by saying that the Ritz Carlton, Los Angeles spa is AH-MAZING! I had a special lemon drop body treatment and it was pure citrus bliss.

I felt a little out of place when I walked through the doors. It was my first time at a fancy spa like the Ritz Carlton, let alone the first time getting a body scrub. After getting a tour of the spa, the attendant gave me a locker and a plush robe. I seriously could have lived in the “waiting” area; soft, cushy chairs, a steam room, multiple sinks and mirrors with mouth wash, lotion, razors, combs, flat irons, hair dryers. I enjoyed a little time in the steam room before my lemon drop body scrub treatment. I left with my skin feeling super soft and smelling amazing. After a week of cleaning up poopy diapers, it was definitely nice to spend the day relaxing and getting pampered. Read the rest of this entry »

A New Mom Celebrates Her First Mother’s Day

May 12, 2013 was extra special for me as it was my first Mother’s Day. I’ve been so blessed to have a loving partner and beautiful baby boy to share it with. Being a mother is definitely an amazing journey that gets better every day.

Even though Mother’s Day is once a year I hope that you feel appreciated and loved all the time because a moms job never ends!

Baby Proofing Your Home

So, we’ve put it off for over 6 months and it’s finally time to baby proof!

Before you think that we are awful parents because we waited this long…I will say that we actually registered for baby proofing items and did some of it before baby arrived. We put in the basics like the corner cushions, outlet covers, door handle covers, a baby gate and cupboard latches.

The reason for our urgency is because I was in the kitchen the other day and Baby C was in his walker when I heard a strange crunching noise. I looked over and he had walked around the living room table, grabbed our DMV paperwork and started munching on the corner of it. Eek! Needless to say, we decided that we seriously needed to spend this long weekend picking up things, putting things away and most importantly putting away all my hair pins that were everywhere!
