Enjoying Earth Day at Walt Disney World

Are you vacationing in Florida on April 22nd, the day people around the world celebrate the earth? If so, Walt Disney World can be a great place to educate children about the planet we inhabit. Two of my favorite parks to visit on Earth Day are the Animal Kingdom and Epcot.

Animal Kingdom

The park that was inspired by Disney’s Lion King, is the best place to bring kids to educate them about the different types of animals that exist within the world. Be sure to visit the Festival Center and meet Disney’s Animal Kingdom Specialists.

Head to the Kilimanjaro Safaris to take a glimpse of real animals in their natural habitats during an 18-minute expedition into the Harambe Wildlife Reserve. Families can traipse along a twisting path amid a lush garden gateway while making their way to the rendezvous point of Kilimanjaro Safaris expedition, the touring company for your adventure into the wilds. The 110-acre Harambe Wildlife Reserve is a spectacular sanctuary dedicated to the protection of African animals.

Don’t miss DinoLand where the fast passed thrill ride Dinosaur is located. Geared towards older children, ride goers experience the world as it existed 65 million years ago as the thrill ride races to rescue an Iguanadon before the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs strikes.

Jiminy Cricket will also be visiting park goers. From 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. guests can meet and greet with Jiminy Cricket at Animal Kingdom’s Raftiki’s Planet Watch.

There is also a beautiful sand sculpture that showcases Disneynature’s Monkey Kingdom movie at the World Showcase Outpost. To learn more about the film visit here.

Epcot

Epcot is a perfect place to learn about the different countries and the unique cultures that exist in the world. The park also offers the most beautiful gardens of Walt Disney World.

At the moment, Epcot is hosting a flower and garden festival. Be sure to visit the new gardens, Nature Rocks, Backyard Habitat and Purple Martins.

The Seas Withe Nemo & Friends attraction within Epcot is also a great place for all members of the family to learn about our earth. Frolic with a colorful cast of undersea characters in this attraction based on Disney Pixar’s Finding Nemo.  Guests oard a “clamobile” and descend below the waves into a “Big Blue World” where Nemo and his friends flit through brightly colored coral reefs and gently swaying sea anemones. Swim with Mr. Ray and his school and see ultra-cool, ultraviolet “jellies.”.

Do you have any other attractions at Walt Disney World that are perfect for Earth Day?
