What Summer Means To Me

I live in Montreal, a city that tends to have some of the harshest winters in North America. So, when summertime comes around Montrealers tend to appreciate every day of good weather. Oddly enough, our summers are pretty hot and the humidity gets unbearable on many days.

One of the great benefits of being a professional blogger is that I get to work from home and enjoy the beautiful summer days. I get up early and take care of blogging and business till about lunchtime and then I get to enjoy the day. Most days that includes my daughter, Ava who turns three in July. She attends preschool three days a week, but when she is home we have lots of fun. She loves being outside. Luckily, we have a park and city wading pool right behind our duplex. We spend most days there!

Since it’s the summer I let Ava indulge in her favorite treats a little more. She loves ice cream and Kinder chocolate. So, when we get back from our outdoor activities I will give her one of the two treats while she relaxes. She always enjoys the toys she gets in Kinder Surprise eggs and often takes them outdoors to play with. What treats do your children love in the summer?

We also love to travel in the summer months. My husband and I love to travel and have spent a couple of summers in Europe. Ava already has a taste for traveling and is great at it because we’ve taken her on all our vacation since her birth. When she was one we took her to Italy (our favorite destination) to travel around Umbria and Tuscany by car before heading to Portugal. It was one of the best vacations ever!  People always ask me if it was stressful to travel with a baby, but I found it super easy. To be honest, the best time to travel with kids is when they’re young. She slept in the car while we traveled and woke up for the fun parts!

This year, money is tight so we’re taking a road trip to the United Sates. We will be visiting Lake George, a beautiful area in upstate New York. The area is special to me because I traveled there each year with my family till the age of 18 years. I’m looking forward to making new memories with Ava!

The trip door to door is about three hours. Now that Ava is a very talkative and an active youngster, her ability to sit still and sleep for long periods of time is lmost impossible! I have already planned what to bring along to keep her entertained. First, her tablet so she can watch a couple of her favorite movies. I’m also packing a lot of road trip friendly snacks to keep her happy. Unfortunately, we cannot bring Kinder chocolates since they’re not approved to cross United States border.  They’re such a great road trip snack!

Are you heading on vacation with your family this year? If you’re taking a road trip what essential items do you take to keep your family happy while in the car?
