The Little Mermaid is one of my favorite animated Disney movies of all time. I will never forget going to see original in theatres as a kid and hiding under my seat when Ursella came on screen. She was so scary!
Now that I am a mom, I’ve been reintroduced to Ariel and her friends through two new movies – The Little Mermaid II and Ariel’s Beginning. The little Mermaid II is a sequel and Ariel’s beginning is a prequel to the original movie. For the first time these movies are being released in a combo Blu-Ray + DVD collection.
The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea
In the Little Mermaid II the tables are reverved. Even though her parents tell her the stories tell about Atlantica are just “old fish tales,” Ariel’s daughter, Melody, dreams of being part of that magical world. All the good creatures on the land and under the sea must join forces to show Melody that both her worlds can live in perfect harmony.
The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning
In Ariel’s Beginning we see the events that led up to her transformation into a princess! Long before Ariel walked on land and into Prince Eric’s heart, she was one of seven beloved daughters of powerful King Triton. But times were troubled in the underwater kingdom – and music was banned! In this magical adventure, Ariel, her fun-loving sisters, and her loyal friends Sebastian and Flounder strive to bring music and friendship back to Atlantica. I enjoyed watching both of these new additions to Ariel’s story. The animation was top notch and all the song got my daughter singing.
