Monica Potter On TV Shows And Movies For Children

Actress Monica Potter has a problem any Mom can relate to – finding TV shows and movies that are suitable for the whole family. The 40 year old star of Parenthood has three kids – Danny who is 21, 17 year old Liam and Molly who is just 6. An age gap like that can prove difficult if you want to choose something everyone will enjoy.

Monica’s told People magazine the dilemma she faces ‘what makes me sad is that I can’t get them all to see the same movie unless it’s something we can all relate to. I’ll take Molly to see a movie that the boys are just not into at all. And she can’t watch certain things that they watch.‘  She’s a South Park fan but it’s a little too edgy for her youngest ‘I like that show, I will say that. But Molly can’t watch!’

There are no hard and fast rules about choosing what kids are exposed to and at what age. You have to use common sense and go with your gut instinct. And don’t forget girls usually mature before boys. While some kids grow up a lot faster than others. Monica says you do the best you can and hope you raised your children to become responsible adults ‘I trust my kids’ judgement. Hopefully if I’ve done my job the right way, then they’re hanging out with good people and making the right choices. I just feel like if you try to raise your kids the right way — give them room to make mistakes, but also guide them in a direction that you hope to see them go — that’s all you can ask for,” she continues. “You can’t control them your whole life.’

That’s good advice.
